Further Support for CLA, Body Fat Loss

CHANNAHON, Ill.--Loders Croklaan Lipid Nutrition (www.lipidnutrition.com) announced the results of a double blind, placebo-controlled study that supported the use of its Clarinol conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) for weight-loss. Researchers at the University of Cape Town in South Africa involved 64 healthy women who maintained a regular exercise regimen. Participants were given either 2.4 g/d of Clarinol or placebo for 12 weeks, during which time all participants were instructed to maintain their normal calorie intake and exercise levels. At the study's conclusion, the women in the treatment group displayed a significant reduction in body fat compared to the placebo group, and the supplement was deemed safe, as well. Researchers noted there were no differences in blood lipid levels, glucose tolerance or insulin sensitivity between the groups.
