ANAHEIM, Calif.The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) elected nine industry leaders to its board of trustees this week during an annual meeting at the Natural Products Expo West tradeshow. The newly elected trustees will work with committees and staff to set policies that encourage responsible trade in the herbal supplements industry. The election was between a total of 15 candidates.
Newly elected members include Elan Sudberg (Alkemist Laboratories), Cindy Angerhofer (Aveda), Rupa Das of (BI Nutraceuticals), P.K. Dave (Nature's Formulary), Joel Berry (Trout Lake Farm), Daniel Gagnon (Herbs Etc), Steven Yeager (Mountain Rose Herbs), Wilson Lau (Nuherbs Co), Richard Kaufman (Paragon Laboratories).
"I greatly appreciate the commitment displayed by each of the candidates elected to the organization's board of trustees," said AHPA President Michael McGuffin. "I look forward to working with this outstanding group of individuals in the coming year. And on behalf of AHPA's members, I'd like to express my appreciation for the service of those whose terms were just completed."
Last month Gaia Herbs announced its support for AHPA's Foundation for Education and Research on Botanicals program todevelop a manual on best practices for harvesting and conserving the perennial Osha herb.
