Fourth National Organic Farmers Survey Released by OFRF

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.--The Organic Farming Research Foundation releasedits fourth nationwide survey of certified organic farmers, since 1993. OFRFslatest survey results were published in July 2004. The Fourth National OrganicFarmers Survey: Sustaining Organic Farms in a Changing Organic Marketplace,collected information on a wide variety of topics related to organic markets andmarketing. The survey also focused on organic farmers perceived risk ofcontamination of certified organic crops by genetically modified organisms(GMOs), and information and services most needed by organic farmers to help withmarketing their farm products. OFRF also collected key demographic andproduction information.

The survey population is developed from producer certification listsvoluntarily provided by organic certification agencies.
