BOCA RATON, Fla.--In a deal totaling $71.5 million, Rexall Sundown signed a definitive agreement to acquire Worldwide Sport Nutrition Supplements (WWSN) Inc. WWSN is a manufacturer of sports nutrition bars, drinks and shakes, including the PureProtein line. The deal is close on the heels of Rexall's January acquisition of MET-Rx.

According to Rexall, the deal was made to expand its reach into the sport supplements category. "Our goal is to acquire strong brands and to offer additional delivery forms which sell through multiple channels of distribution," said Rexall's president and chief executive officer, Damon DeSantis.
