CHICAGOTechnomic honored 15 restaurants for its 2014 Chain Restaurant Consumers' Choice Awards, which are based on consumer responses to the firm's ongoing brand study.
As part of its Consumer Brand Metrics program, Technomic asked consumers to rate more than 120 leading restaurant chains on more than 60 different attributes that capture the consumer experience, from the quality of the food to the overall brand reputation. The ongoing study records 80,000 consumer visits annually.
Winners were categorized as either full-service, fast casual or quick service. In each category, one restaurant chain was recognized for one of five attributes"kid friendly," "pleasant, friendly service," "craveability," "social consciousness" or "availability of healthy options."
Full service winners include Friendly's, Bonefish Grill, Joe's Crab Shack, The Cheesecake Factory and Mimi's Cafe. Fast casual winners include McAlister's Deli, Firehouse Subs, Zaxby's, Panera Bread and Jason's Deli. Quick service winners include CiCi's Pizza, In-N-Out Burger, Auntie Anne's, Chick-fil-A and Subway.
"It's important to point out that consumers get credit for rating the chains and selecting the winners," said Darren Tristano, Technomic executive vice president. "We're pleased to acknowledge the winning organizations, but these awards come directly from their customers."
The awards will be presented at Technomic's Consumer Trends & Directions Conference in Newport Beach, Calif., Jan 22-23.
