CP Kelco Earns Food Safety System Certification

ATLANTAFive of CP Kelco's production facilities now have Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000, recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). The company plans to have all facilities audited, certified and compliant in the first half of 2012.

This global food safety management standard continues to build on existing quality management systems and validates CP Kelcos food safety systems across the globe," Gary Jansen, Director, Global QA & Regulatory Affairs states.

GFSI is a set of requirements that the global food industry is adopting. CP Kelco is being proactive in requiring all facilities audit to this level and we feel this reflects our commitment to food safety. This initiative supports our position as the industrys preferred hydrocolloid supplier," says Don Rubright, President of CP Kelco.

Beginning in early 2011, CP Kelco embarked on a Global Quality Improvement and Food Safety Initiative.The initiative is designed to elevate the commitment to quality and food safety, and will be validated by 3rd party audits of all facilities by the end of 2011.

Certified facilities are located in Äänekoski, Finland, producing cellulose gum, Lille Skensved, Denmark, and Grossenbrode, Germany, manufacturing pectin, carrageenan and refined locust bean gum product lines, San Diego, California xanthan gum and gellan gum facility, and the Okmulgee, Oklahoma xanthan gum plant.
