Ferrochel Shows High Absorption

CLEARFIELD, Utah--Iron derived from ferrous bisglycinate may absorb better than iron from ferrous sulfate. In a study published in the June issue of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (71:1563-9), 10 iron-sufficient men consumed a whole-maize porridge equilibrated with either ferrous bisglycinate [Albion Laboratories' patentedFerrochel] or ferrous sulfate. The geometric mean iron absorption from ferrous bisglycinate was 6 percent, four times higher than that from ferrous sulfate. The study concluded that ferrous bisglycinate should be effective and safe enough, with or without butylatedhydroxyanisole, for infants, toddlers and adults to consume.
