Video game competitions form an exploding market worldwide, and sports and other nutrition brands have been trying to figure out and meet the needs of gamers. This year’s SupplySide West trade show in Las Vegas Oct. 25-29 will feature an esports nutrition education session to look at the market trends, ingredients, formulation and marketing of products for gamers.

Casey Thomas, RDN, joins a panel of researchers who have studied aspects of esports nutrition to provide scientific expertise on ingredients and the state of nutrition research on gamers. He has a background in neurobiology and brain-related clinical research, as well as performance dietitian work with high level athletes, including sports teams at UCLA.

In this video podcast, Content Director Steve Myers talks to Thomas about his journey to esports nutrition and what he has learned about gamers’ nutritional awareness, how elite gaming teams approach nutrition and health, and some potentially helpful performance ingredients. He also details the motivations and plans for his GamerDiet.gg website.
