Atwater Joins USP

ROCKVILLE, Md.--John Atwater, Ph.D.,RAC, has been appointed director of analytical chemistry for the U.S. Pharmacopeia's(USP) dietary supplement certification program. Currently in its pilot phase, the program is a national initiative offering certification of dietary supplements. Atwater will be responsible for verifying label contents in supplements accepted for analytical testing in the program through review of documentation provided by manufacturers. He will also oversee the audit of quality control systems and analytical testing of the products. Atwater will work with the USP (www.usp.org) R&D Laboratory to implement analytical methods and specifications for the program and will assist with business development.
