Brunswick Labs Receives SBIR Award

WAREHAM, Mass.Brunswick Laboratories received a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to help fund Brunswicks ongoing research and development of high-throughput antioxidant analytical assays. The company has developed proprietary assays that identify specific compounds contributing to the ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) value of substances; the new research will focus on measuring additional properties that contribute to total antioxidant capacity.

In other company news, Brunswick Labs applied for a patent on its lipophilic ORAC assay, allowing commercial quantification of oil-soluble substances. It also added gas chromatography and additional HPLC instrumentation to is laboratory capabilities. Finally, the company launched a redesigned Web site (www.brunswicklabs.com).
