AOAC Accepts Mineral Chelate Test

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich.AlbionAdvanced Nutrition announced the Association of Analytical Chemists (AOAC)accepted a test developed by Albion that verifies both the presence of mineralamino acid chelates and quantifies the percent of the ingredient that is a truemineral amino acid chelate. The test will allow manufacturers and marketers ofproducts containing mineral amino acid chelates to test ingredients that claimto be mineral amino acid chelates to determine whether the product is a chelateand the percentage of mineral that is chelated. The fact that the AOAC hasaccepted this procedure for presentation at its annual meeting, held inSeptember in St. Louis, is a true breakthrough, said Max Motyka, director ofAlbions Human Products Division. It is the first time that a scientificorganization has accepted a procedure for this purposeever. We believe thiswill be an industry changing occurrence. Albion will hand out copies of thetesting procedure at its booth at SupplySide West.
