WASHINGTON--The U.S. Patent Office has issued Patent #6,177,122for "cancer chemoprotective food products" to Johns Hopkins School ofMedicine. The claims cover extracts of several vegetable sources ofglucosinolates, which are metabolic precursors of isothiocyanates that mayprotect healthy cells against the damaging effects of chemotherapy.
