Aloecorp Opens Sales Office in China

BROOMFIELD, Colo.--Aloecorp (www.aloecorp.com) opened a corporate sales office in Haikou City on Hainan Island in the People's Republic of China. The Aloecorp Haikou Branch Office (HBO) will provide expanded customer service in the Pacific Rim, the company said. In addition, Aloecorp is completing negotiations to purchase 1,000 acres of cropland to grow raw aloe vera in the southern part of Hainan Island. It will take approximately 18 months to harvest, once the planting is complete, and an on-site processing plant will be opened in the second half of 2002. Jeff Han will serve as general manager of the HBO.

"Our primary mission in opening the Aloecorp Haikou Branch Office is to better serve our Pacific Rim customers," said Mick Anderson, president of Aloecorp. "We will also be looking to expand our customer base and ensure that both our current and new customers will receive value and benefit from the freight savings realized by having our planting, harvesting and processing facilities in a much closer geographical region."

Anderson also noted that the regional operating facility of the International Aloe Science Council will operate out of the Aloecorp HBO. The National Aloe Industry Society of China, a regional sub-office of the IASC, is in the process of being formed.
