Citrus Pectin May Slow Prostate Cancer Progression

MARINA DEL REY, Calif.Modifiedcitrus pectin (MCP) may slow prostate cancer progression by lengtheningprostate-specific antigen doubling time (PSADT) according to a study publishedin Prostate Cancer and Prostetic Diseases (6, 4:301-4, 2003) (http://www.nature.com/pcan/);PectaSol by EcoNugenics Inc. (www.econugenics.com)was used in the study.

Thirteen men with prostate cancer and biochemicalprostate-specific antigen (PSA) failure after localized treatment (radicalprostatectomy, radiation or cryosurgery) were evaluated for tolerability andefficacy. MCP increased PSADT in seven of the 10 subjects after 12months of supplementation, compared to before taking MCP.
