CARTERET, N.J.Berjé, Inc., a global leader and distributor of essential oils and aromatic chemicals, recently gained SQF Level 3 rating, highest level of certification possible within the SQF (Safe Quality Food) Program.
The SQF Program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and links primary production certification to food manufacturing, distribution and agent/broker management certification. Berjé scored 98% and was rated Excellent" within the rigorous testing category, which further reinforces the companys commitment to food safety, quality materials management and superior process control.
Third-party audits for quality and safety are required under The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), which focuses on several aspects of food safety and steadily aims to increase consumer awareness and attention on safe foods. As a result, suppliers now need proof that robust safety plans and programs are in place at their factories. SQF certification provides validation, and its certification program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative.
Achieving the highest level of certification on our first third-party audit in our new headquarters facility demonstrates Berjés commitment to providing our customers with safe, secure, quality products and ensures that we continually meet and exceed the quality standards set in place by the SQF Institute," said Berjé Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kim Bleimann.
