TruCal Achieves GRAS Status
MONROE, Wis.--Glanbia Ingredients announced thatits TruCal calcium--a source of dairy calcium containing phosphorus,magnesium, potassium and zinc--achieved GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe)status. "Many Americans do not consume enough calcium and other essentialminerals in their diet, and [conditions] such as osteoporosis and brittle boneshave become a very big concern in the population," said Jerry O'Dea,general manager of Glanbia Ingredients (www.glanbiaingredients.com)."GRAS status will help dairy calcium achieve recognition as a leadingsource of calcium and mineral fortification."
