Salami Recall Tops 1.2 Million Lbs.

WASHINGTONDaniele International, Inc., a Mapleville, R.I., firm, yesterday expanded its recall of approximately 1,263,754 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) varieties of Italian sausage products, including salami because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The company also recalled all products associated with black pepper, which may be the source of the contamination.

The company issued an initial recall on Jan. 23 followed by a second recall on Jan. 31. The products were distributed to retail establishments nationwide and internationally.
