In a budget request to Congress, FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, M.D., divulged fiscal year 2017 (FY17) enforcement data stemming from inspections of domestic and foreign firms to enforce dietary supplement regulations. FDA highlighted the number of detentions, injunctions and warning letters affecting an industry whose sales top $40 billion annually.
