Dr. Oz show features astaxanthin

A recent Dr. Oz Show featured a four-minute piece on astaxanthin where Dr. Mehmet Oz interviewed Dr. Joseph Mercola. Dr. Mercola had sent an e-newsletter extolling the benefits of astaxanthin just last month. The Dr. Oz segment called astaxanthin the No.1 supplement youve never heard of that you should be taking." In the segment, Dr. Mercola said he takes 8 mg each day.

Dr. Mercola spoke about the nutrients benefits for eye health and sports performance, as well as its bioavailability.

Cyanotech Corporation sent an e-mail alerting the industry about the Dr. Oz show highlight of astaxanthin and the company noted it is the latest in a series of media exposures for the carotenoid, including:

  • A mention from Health Ranger" Mike Adams in his daily e-newsletter. Mike called astaxanthin the little-known miracle nutrient for inflammation, anti-aging, athletic endurance and more."

  • The Oprah Winfrey Show, which twice featured New York Times best-selling author and dermatologist Nicholas Perricone, MD, who touted natural astaxanthins effects on the skin.

  • Americas Most Trusted Pharmacist and author Suzy Cohen, RpH, who mentions astaxanthin in her books. Suzy says that astaxanthins anti-inflammatory properties are just as good as Celebrex but not as fast" and points out the extensive research completed on Astaxanthin.

  • Health author, supplement expert and formulator Robert Corish, MD,  recommends Astaxanthin in his book A Guide to Mens Health," and uses it in all products he formulates for joint health, skin health, eye health and cardiovascular health.
