Lane Labs Distributes$3 Million for MGN-3 Research

ALLENDALE, N.J.--Lane Labs USA Inc. is allocating $3 million in research grants to study the potential health benefits of MGN-3, a natural compound made of rice bran and Shiitake mushroom extracts.

In the past, studies have been conducted on MGN-3 and cancer, hepatitis C, multiple myeloma and other immunosuppressive conditions. Researchers believe that this compound helps to increase natural killer (NK) cell activity.

"We're hoping to get a number of different sites involved in this research," said Joyce Steel, a spokesperson for the company. "We hope that this is just the beginning of some very promising research."

As of press time, Lane Labs (www.lanelabs.com) had given part of the grant to MamdoohGhoneum, Ph.D., a research associate at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the director of research at Charles Drew University of Medicine.
