Activin Receives U.S. Patentsfor Cardio Health

FRESNO, Calif.San JoaquinValley Concentrates announced it was recently issued two patents for its Activingrapeseed extract and cardiovascular health. The firstpatent, Preventing or Treating Physiological Effects of Cardiac Disease(No. 6,495,593), describes the use of grapeseed extract for alleviating adversephysiological effects associated with cardiac disease, such as decreased cardiacpressure, aortic flow and systolic aortic pressure. The second patent, ReducingCholesterol Levels (No. 6,500,469), provides methods of reducing cholesterollevels in hypercholesterolemic people through a combination of Activin andniacin-bound chromium.

These important cardiovascular patents support the furtherexpansion of Activin into functional foods and beverages, said SteveAnderson, vice president at San Joaquin Valley Concentrates. They add furtherscientific credibility to the more than 80 published research studies on Activingrapeseed extract.
