The American Heart Association reported cardiovascular disease (CVD) caused approximately one death per minute among females in 2011—a number representing the same number of deaths from cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease and diabetes combined. Though heart disease remains the leading cause of death among both men and women, women may present different symptoms and face different factors compared to men, creating different needs to address. Katie Stage, ND, RH (AGH), assistant professor of naturopathic medicine, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM), and Stephanie Seitz, ND, MT (ASCP), staff physician, SCNM, spoke with INSIDER on the topic.
