Eastman Exiting Vitamin E TPGS Business

KINGSPORT, Tenn.—Eastman Chemical Co. is planning to close its manufacturing site in Anglesey, Wales, later this year, and cease production of EASTMAN Vitamin E TPGS (D-alpha-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol succinate), which is currently manufactured at the site. According to the company, the site is no longer strategic for Eastman and follows a consultation period with employees at the site that began earlier this year. Eastman is providing transition supply inventory to customers based on historical purchases.

The Anglesey site currently employs approximately 65 people. According to the BBC, officials with the Welsh Assembly Government are trying to find a buyer for the factory, which was set up in Anglesey in 1970, and purchased by Eastman in 1995.
