COPENHAGENDanisco introduced OsmoAid to its existing line of Lactitol ingredients for digestive health. Lactitol promotes gut mobility in constipated individuals. OsmaAid is a gentle, osmotic laxative ingredient in a sweet crystalline powder form that can be applied to dietary supplements and foodstuffs. Studies by the company show that OsmoAid lowers colonic pH and stimulating peristalsis (the rippling and wave-like motion that contracts and relaxes the bowel muscles) and increases the osmotic pressure in the intestinal lumen, resulting in an increase in fecal volume. Depending on individual needs and age, OsmoAid is best taken orally between 150 mg to 40 g per day and can be ingested by all age groups without any known health concerns or side effects. Additionally, OsmoAid has been approved for use by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
