Kemin Receives FSSC Certification for Iowa Facility

DES MOINES, IowaKemin, a global company that focuses on providing molecular solutions in the nutrition and health industry, achieved a Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000:2010 status for its facility in Iowa. FSCC 22000:2010 is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as a food safety management system, certified by third-party organizations.

The facility currently manufactures more than 250 ingredients used in animal agriculture nutrition and throughout the food and pet food industries.

The certification covers the manufacturing of food ingredients and is designed to deliver greater confidence in food, fewer health risks, lower auditing costs, improved protection for brands and improved supply chain management.

Other Kemin facilities with FSSC 22000:2010 certification include the companys plant extraction facility in Des Moines as well as its facility in Herentals, Belgium. Additionally, in September 2010, Kemin received the FAMI QS/International Safe Feed/Safe Food (I-SF/SF) certificate for its facility in Des Moines.

Kemin recently responded to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)'s claim rejection of its weight loss product Slendesta® Potato Extract.
