Gunny Sodhi, CEO, YouVeda, founded the herbal supplement brand after his life changed due to practicing ayurveda—and for him, it’s about more than the herbs. Nutrition is important, but so are sleep, living a balanced life and knowing one’s Dosha constitution. The three Dosha types set a foundation for a person’s physical, emotional and mental energy, and help people understand their personalities, health conditions and the way they view the world. A leader knowing their Dosha and the Doshas of those they work with, Sodhi said, can help them ensure everyone feels included and contributes to the business’s success. Business leadership under an ayurvedic lens has helped him achieve success and grow his herbal supplement business.

In this video, Sodhi covers:

  • The importance of transparency, boundaries and hard conversations in the workplace.

  • How to ensure an obsession for business doesn’t become toxic.

  • Sodhi’s “The Balanced Being Podcast,” and why industry members should listen.

Sodhi will be speaking more about ayurvedic principles in leadership in the SupplySide East education session, “Leadership during labor disruptions,” on Wednesday, April 13, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. Learn more and register here.

Editor’s note: Almendarez took the YouVeda’s Dosha quiz, and is indeed Vata, as she suspected.
