Cargill, Coca-Cola Jointly Present Case Study

MINNEAPOLISCargill Health& Food Technologies (H&FT) (www.cargill.com) and The Coca-Cola Co.jointly presented an educational session entitled Health & WellnessProduct Development: A Case Study at BevExpo 2004, held Sept. 29 through Oct.1 in Tampa, Fla. The session focused on the development of Minute Maid® PremiumHeart Wise orange juice with CoroWise plant sterols.

The juice was launched in late 2003 and is the first orangejuice clinically proven to help reduce cholesterol, according to a clinicalstudy conducted by researchers at the University of California, Davis MedicalSchool. Using Cargills CoroWise cholesterol-reducing plant sterolsingredient, Coca-Cola reinforced its category leadership in health and wellnessinnovation.

The launch of Minute Maid Premium Heart Wise orange juiceis the result of a very collaborative team approach between Cargill and TheCoca-Cola Company, said John Roddey, innovation director for juices, teas andemerging brands for Coca-Cola North America.
