LAS VEGAS—Last week during SupplySide West 2014, Glanbia Nutritionals announced the launch of a proprietary blend of proteolytic enzymes that are designed to release branch chain amino acids (BCAAs) and glutamine from whey protein sources.

IGNITOR amino release matrix, which was featured at the show in powered drink mix samples, also promotes heightened mTOR activation for enhanced protein synthesis and skeletal muscle growth, said Glanbia Nutritionals, which makes and sells nutritional and functional ingredient solutions to the food, beverage, supplement and animal nutrition industries.

According to the company, the product provides for a more efficient release of BCAAs and glutamine, enabling formulations that contain less protein to achieve desired levels of effectiveness. Consequently, portion sizes can be smaller with a reduction in side effects from ingesting protein such as bloating, gas and poor digestion, Glanbia Nutritionals said.
