Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have become a hot-button topic for many consumers. A 2016 Packaged Facts survey published in the report "Natural and Organic Foods and Beverages in the U.S., 5th Edition, gauged the attitude of U.S. consumers about the topic, considering factors such as disclosure of GMO use on product packaging, familiarity with federal legislation regarding GMO labeling and overall importance of purchasing GMO-free foods
