KSM-66 Ashwagandha shows strong anti-aging effect in human cells

News Release

A scientific study, published in the Advances in Bioscience and Biotechnology (Abstract View http://dx.doi.org/10.4236/abb.2016.74018 or http://file.scirp.org/Html/1 7301197_65533.htm), presented evidence of strong anti-aging properties of KSM-66 Ashwagandha via potentiation of telomerase activity in the human HeLa cell line. The shortening of telomeres, at the ends of chromosomes, can accelerate aging and the consequent degeneration of various physiological systems. Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein that can arrest such telomere loss, and therefore offers a pathway to ameliorate the effects of age. The authors of the study showed KSM-66 Ashwagandha leading to a significant increase in telomerase activity, as measured through the Telomerase Rapid Amplification Protocol, a widely used assay procedure. In this scientific experiment, KSM-66 Ashwagandha led to an enhancement of approximately 45% in telomerase activity at 10-50 μg concentration. These findings are noteworthy because they indicate that KSM-66 Ashwagandha can potentiate telomerase activity, mollify the effects of aging and possibly increase the human lifespan.

Kartikeya Baldwa, Director of Ixoreal Biomed, the marketer of KSM-66, said: "Ashwagandha is a flagship herb in Ayurveda that has been used as an adaptogen to rejuvenate health and maintain homeostasis in the human body. Ashwagandha has traditionally been used as an anti-aging agent, but there are only a few modern published papers studying such effects. This is the first published study to use a standardized, branded ashwagandha extract that show an anti-aging effect with a telomerase promotion effect in the human cell line." Mr.Baldwa added, "This study adds to the body of evidence supporting the use of KSM-66 Ashwagandha for anti-aging. There is a previously published paper demonstrating that KSM-66 leads to significant lifespan and activity expansion in Caenorhabditis elegans, a widely used animal model. This present study goes deeper in that it posits the mechanism by which KSM-66 can serve as an anti-aging agent in humans.” Mr.Baldwa commented on broader KSM-66 Study shows that KSM-66 full-spectrum ashwagandha significantly increases telomerase activity research, “There are now a total of 15 studies on KSM-66, making KSM-66 the most solidly-supported, branded ashwagandha root extract on the market.
