Arizona Natural Resources Changes Leadership

PHOENIX, Ariz.--Arizona Natural Resources Inc., private labeler and contract filler ofcosmetics, toiletries, over-the-counter products and candles, announces a change ofleadership. George F. Dembow, president, will take on the title and responsibilities ofchairman of the board, and his sons, George F. Dembow III and Paul Dembow will assume thetitles and responsibilities of co-presidents.

Zenk Leads Humanetics Research

CHANHASSEN, Minn.--John Zenk, M.D., a board-certified doctor of internal medicine, isnow the chief medical and scientific director and chairman of the scientific advisoryboard for Humanetics Corporation. In his new role, Zenk will direct research and clinicalinvestigation for Humanetics' products, including 7-Keto, a potent metabolite of DHEA.

Perrigo Company Appoints Executive Positions

ALLEGAN, Mich.--The Perrigo Company announced Richard G. Hansen will retire aspresident and chief operating officer of the company. Hansen, who served as chiefoperating officer from 1989 to 1995 and president from 1991 to 1995, came out ofretirement last November to aid the company's transition to a new enterprise softwaresystem. Hansen will remain on Perrigo's board of directors.

In addition, John Hendrickson has been named executive vice president and chiefoperations officer. In his new role, Hendrickson will be responsible for domesticmanufacturing and packaging, engineering, distribution, materials management, customerservice and human resources. Mark Olesnavage, president of customer business development,will now be responsible for the company's international business.

La Haye Fills Sales Position

REDMOND, Wash.--La Haye Laboratories Inc., a developer and manufacturer of rawmaterials for dietary supplements and functional foods, has appointed three sales agentsto represent its astaZANTHIN brand astaxanthin in North American markets.

Designing Health Appoints New Manager

VALENCIA, Calif,--Tim Stone has joined Designing Health Inc., a producer of whole foodsupplements for the human and pet marketplace, as customer service manager. Stone will beresponsible for managing the company's call center and maintaining quality service withpeak efficiency. "Our goal at Designing Health is to provide first-class service toour customers," said Stone. "We want our customers to feel good about what weoffer and feel comfortable buying our products."

Charkit's President Receives Award

DARIEN, Conn.--Charles Hinnant, president of Charkit Chemical Corp., was presented theEugene B. Humphrey Award for Small Chemical Business Entrepreneur of the Year at a recentAmerican Chemical Society (ACS) meeting in New Orleans. The award is given to anoutstanding entrepreneur who has demonstrated success in business, industry organizationinvolvement and service to the community. Hinnant founded Charkit in 1982, with salesreaching $40 million in 1989. Charkit has also expanded its capabilities into specialtymanufacturing by obtaining interests in Optima Chemical Group LLC, Diversitec and ArranChemical.

Maypro Expands Staff

PURCHASE, N.Y.--Maypro has appointed Kazu Ihara as the new logistic coordinator for thecompany's export department. Previously a process engineer at Hitachi Shipping Corp.,Ihara brings more than eight years of logistic experience to Maypro. William Kakizawa alsojoins the staff as new account manager for the fine chemical division. Kakizawa will be incharge of sales of fine and industrial chemicals.

Oasis Expands Sales and Marketing Department

SEBASTOPOL, Calif.--Oasis Sales and Marketing hired Joelle Hoffman as accountexecutive. In her position, she will manage the sales for S. Martinelli & Co., HowlerProducts, Galaxy Desserts and Dietetics Pharma accounts. Hoffman has been working in thenatural products industry for the past five years, primarily in the areas of sales andcustomer service. Oasis Sales and Marketing manages the national sales and marketingactivities for numerous companies in the natural foods industry, including Brown Cow Farmyogurt, Cedarlane Natural Foods and Blue Diamond Growers Co-op.

Now Foods Hires New QC Director

BLOOMINGDALE, Ill.--Now Foods, a manufacturer and distributor of vitamin and mineralsupplements, herbs, cosmetics and natural foods, announced that Dr. Joseph Zhou has joinedthe company as director of quality control and laboratory methods. In this position, Zhouwill improve analyses currently performed in-house and will manage all technicalfunctions.

Network Marketing Expert Named President of DEI

ORLANDO, Fla.--Gary J. Raser, a veteran of the network marketing industry, has beennamed president of Dynamic Essentials (DEI), a network marketing company providing a widevariety of nutritional supplements and skin care products through its network ofnationwide distributors. Previously, Raser was executive president of DEI, which heco-founded and launched with record-setting growth earlier this year. He has also servedas executive vice president of sales and marketing for Stef, an international networkmarketing company.

Chr. Hansen Adds Manager

MILWAUKEE--Pete Budde has joined Chr. Hansen's Global Human Health Group as technicalservice manager for Human Probiotics. In this position, Budde will work directly withcustomers to provide technical assistance, including product development and support,clinical documentation, technical requests, presentations and training on the probioticproduct line.
