Congressional Caucus to Focus on CAM, Natural Products

WASHINGTON--In a move to inform Congress about complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and natural products, a bipartisan group of Senators and Representatives has formed the the Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Natural Foods (CAMNF) Caucus. Sens. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Reps. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) and Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) will lead this bipartisan caucus that plans to represent the interests of the 40 percent of Americans who use CAM remedies. The CAMNF Caucus said it would schedule seminars to increase awareness of policy issues, advances in research and specific therapies.

Natural products industry members are invited to join the group; for more information, call Harkin's office at (202) 224-3254 and ask for Sabrina Corlette at x43254, or call Hatch's office at (202) 224-5251 and ask for Brian Harvey at x46306.
