KEARNY, N.J.Pharmachem Laboratories chose Pacific Resources International, Sydney, as its exclusive distributor for StarchLite, Phase 2® White Kidney Bean Extract, for the food and beverage markets in Australia and New Zealand.

StarchLite has two U.S. structure-function claims for starch reduction and weight control, and is included in food, beverages and dietary supplements. The ingredient temporarily inhibits starch-digesting enzymes, so it passes through the body undigested.

"StarchLite has been shown in numerous clinical studies to reduce the digestion of starch and aid in weight control," said Frank Ruckriegel of Pacific Resources. "We believe its a more effective component of starchy foods than any resistant starch. Consequently, it can be added to carb-rich foods such as bread, pasta, rice, and potatoes to reduce the caloric impact of these favorite foods. It is also ideal for beverages and bars."
