BASEL, SwitzerlandLonza presented the newest nutritional bars containing Carnipure, its branded L-carnitine health ingredient, at the third annual Healthy & Nutritional Bars Conference in Cologne, Germany. L-Carnitine is produced in the body and can be found in some dietary sources. It plays a critical role in fat and energy metabolism by carrying long-chain fatty acids (LCFA) into the cells mitochondria where they are broken down for energy generation.

Lonza offers Carnipure crystalline, pure L-carnitine; and Carnipure tartrate, a non-hygroscopic form made of L-carnitine and tartaric acid. Both forms are suitable for use in nutritional bars. Products displaying the Carnipure Quality Seal on the packaging show the consumer they contain only L-Carnitine from Lonza.
