Professor, INAF Laval University, specialized in characterization of plant bioactive compounds
Yves Desjardins is a full professor in the Department of Phytology in Université Laval's Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences. He is an active member of the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF). A plant physiologist by training, he has specialized in phytochemistry for the past 15+ years and is interested in the health effects of fruits and vegetables. Dr. Desjardins is in charge of the INAF lab that analyzes active compounds in plants and has supervised major clinical studies on topics as varied as type 2 diabetes, memory loss, urinary tract infections, psoriasis, oral infections, and mild inflammation. His work aims to characterize the effect of polyphenols, the bioactive molecules in fruits and vegetables.
