Watermelon = Fireworks?

I have to admit the recent headlines about watermelon and sexual enhancement was news to me; that is, until I read the mechanism of action. That citrulline in watermelon can convert to arginine triggered an "Ah-ha!"

Arginine is a well-known precursor of nitric oxide, a vasodilator used in heart health and sports nutrition. However, I discovered citrulline is more abundant in watermelon rinds (who eats those?) than in the sweet, red flesh of the fruit.

It's a nice thought that eating some watermelon would be good preparation for sexual performance, but unless you're eating hundreds of watermelon slices, there seems to be little chance a guy could replace other, more proven erectile dysfunction remedies.

And with arginine already available as a supplement, there doesn't seem to be any incentive to use citrulline from watermelon as a substitute. Correct me, if I'm wrong.
