RONKONKOMA, N.Y.—NBTY Inc. received an award for its social responsibility program and another for its employee communications campaign at a ceremony hosted by the Golden Bridge Awards.

NBTY’s award for “Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year" was in acknowledgment of more than $7 million in donations of vitamins and supplements from brands such as Nature’s Bounty© and Sundown Naturals©, nutrition bars on behalf of brands like MET-Rx© and Pure Protein©, and monetary contributions from NBTY’s charitable organization, NBTY Helping Hands. Donations went to more than 30 charitable organizations both within and outside the United States.

The award for “Employee Communications Campaign of the Year" was for the company’s Global Walk to Wellness, a virtual “walk around the world" with the goal of collectively walking enough steps to circle the world and encouraging camaraderie and fitness. In total, almost 3,000 team members collectively covered 136,241.2 miles.

The annual Golden Bridge Awards program encompasses the world’s best in organizational performance, innovations, products and services, executives and management teams, women in business and the professions, innovations, case studies, product management, public relations and marketing campaigns, and customer satisfaction programs from every major industry in the world. More than 40 judges from a broad spectrum of industry voices from around the world participated, and their average scores determined the 2014 Golden Bridge Business Awards winners.
