HORSHOLM, Denmark--Chr. Hansen and BioGaia Biologics AB, a Swedish company, formed a partnership to sell probiotics. The strategic alliance was undertaken to strengthen the presence of the companies in the global market.

Chr. Hansen has agreed to sell BioGaia's Lactobacillus reuteri concept worldwide. It will also offer technical support to the functional foods and health supplement industries on behalf of the concept. This is the first strategic alliance in which BioGaia has participated. It owns several patents on concerning the health benefits of Lactobacillus reuteri as a probiotic.
