P-57 is the active molecule in Hoodia gordonii responsible for reducing appetite, and has been clinically tested to reduce caloric intake by more than 1,000 calories a day. DCD Hoodia gordonii has proven to give between 300 to 500 percent higher active P57 than standard cultivated Hoodia gordonii, and as much as 50 percent higher P57 content than wild Hoodia gordonii. DCD Hoodia gordonii contains between 0.295 and 0.33 percent, yielding an average of 0.31 percent active P57. On average it contains 387 percent higher active P57 levels than standard Hoodia gordonii.
