Sensus America Inulin Ingredient Earns GRAS Status

MONMOUTH JUNCTION, N.J.

Frutafit inulin was self-affirmed GRAS(generally recognized as safe), according to Sensus America LLC, and the Foodand Drug Administration (FDA) responded that it had no questions regarding theGRAS status. FDA reviewed Sensus GRAS submission and listed the notice as No.GRN 00018.

Sensus also announced that FDA consulted with the labeling and consumerprotection staff of the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which hasapproved the use of inulin as a water binder, emulsifier, stabilizer andtexturizer at a level between 2 percent and 5 percent in non-standardized meatfood products.
