Organic Ground Beef Recalled Over E. coli

WASHINGTONFirst Class Foods Inc., of Hawthorne, Calif., is recalling approximately 34,373 pounds of Natures Harvest and Organic Harvest organic ground beef products because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, USDAs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Dec. 30.

The recall involves 16-ounce packages of "Natures Harvest Organic Ground Beef Brick" sold singly with one of the following "use or freeze by" dates of "12/30/10" or "01/08/11"; 16-oounce packages of "Organic Harvest Organic Beef Brick" sold singly and in three-packs with one of the following "use or freeze by" dates of "12/28/10" or "01/06/11"; and 16-oounce packages of Natures Harvest Ground Patty" containing four 4-ounce patties with the following "use or freeze by" date of "12/30/10" or "01/08/11".

The ground beef products were produced Dec. 7, 2010, and Dec. 16, 2010, and shipped to retail establishments in California, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Washington state.
