ODS Awards Grants for Studying Alternative Medicine
BETHESDA, Md.--The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Officeof Dietary Supplements (ODS) (http://ods.od.nih.gov)announced that it will be funding five grants to investigate the role of dietarysupplements and health, including the University of Vermont trial exploringdiabetes and chromium discussed in the Sept. 17 Insider. The new projectsinclude studying St. Johns wort and drug interactions at the University ofPittsburgh; B vitamins and the brain at the University of Southern California;zinc and HIV at Florida International University; and isolating and identifyingplant chemicals at the University of Texas, Austin.
