Americans Remain Uninformed on Biotechnology

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--A recent Rutgers University (www.rutgers.edu)study stated that despite a wealth of extensive media coverage and publicdebate, Americans are still largely uninformed about biotechnology. According tothe study, four in 10 respondents in a survey conducted by the university's FoodPolicy Institute said they were aware that genetically modified foods are soldat their local market, and more than two-thirds said they have never had aconversation about biotechnology. Nearly three-quarters of those surveyed saidthey would approve the use of genetic modification to create less expensive orbetter-tasting produce.
