Munsom Machinery to Display New Mixer at SupplySide West

UTICA, N.Y.—Munson Machinery will demonstrate its new Sanitary Rotary Batch Mixer, a device that mixes ingredients together with 100-percent uniformity, at SupplySide West.

The new Model 700-TH-40-SS Sanitary Rotary Batch Mixer gently blends batches of ingredients in parts as small as one per million in less than three minutes, releases 100 percent of the batch, and can be sanitized rapidly with no tools.

The unit is designed with a retractable inlet for rapid, thorough washing, a stationary discharge, and a rotating drum with proprietary mixing flights that tumble, turn and fold material gently, imparting minimal energy to the batch while reportedly achieving 100-percent uniformity in two to three minutes, regardless of disparities in the bulk densities, particle sizes or flow characteristics of batch ingredients.

The mixer has a useable batch capacity of 40 cu ft., total capacity of 80 cu ft. and weight capacity of 4,000 lbs., and is said to be equally effective in blending of batches from 100 percent down to 5 percent of rated capacity.

Intended for USDA applications, as well as industrial applications involving contamination-sensitive materials and/or frequent product changeovers, the unit features internal mixing flights that are spaced for easy access, all-stainless contact surfaces, continuous, polished welds having 0.25 in. radii, external, removable seals and a CIP vessel cleaning nozzle. The mixer is also equipped with a spray line for liquid additions.

Unlike stationary mixing vessels that leave a residual “heal" of material after discharge, the rotating vessel and internal flights of the rotary mixer reportedly lift and direct the entire batch into the discharge spout for complete evacuation with no residual material or manual intervention, improving product quality and process control while facilitating rapid, thorough cleaning.
