What's happening in sports nutrition? A lot! And, who better to talk about it than a group of experts in the industry? SupplySide West 2022 will include a three-hour presentation called Sports Nutrition: Rebound and Regrowth on Friday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to noon. The session will be broken down into three parts, each tackling a different aspect. Before the show, Natural Products Insider scheduled a quick online meeting with some of the speakers to get an inside look at what exactly is on the docket for the session, and what attendees can expect to learn.

The first part of the session will be a panel about regulation. As Kyle Turk, director of government affairs, Natural Products Association (NPA), shared, "We'll be talking about sports nutrition from a legislative and regulatory perspective. There are a lot of things happening right now with dietary supplement regulations, particularly at the state level."

Diana Morgan, VP of global regulatory affairs at Nutrabolt added, "We'll also be talking about federal laws and how they impact the industry as a whole, especially sports nutrition. I'll also be talking a little bit about women in sports nutrition, the effects of the "pink tax," and how brands are marketing men's products to women."

Second in the lineup will be a scientific discussion of sports nutrition and cognition. "We are excited to bring you a session focusing on the cognitive aspects of sports nutrition," said Doug Kalman, Ph.D., senior VP of science and regulatory affairs at the NPA. "How can what you eat and what supplements you decide to utilize work together to enhance short and long term cognitive function. We also want to re-emphasize the information we're going to share is within the context of science and research. It's important for individuals in R&D to understand how the findings from these studies can be applied and how to work within the guardrails of FDA substantiation requirements."

The last part of the session will be about data. Scott Dicker, senior analyst at SPINS, shared, "I'm so looking forward to this session. If I wasn't speaking at it, I'd be in the front row. I'll be looking at sales data, both online and in-stores. It's been the hottest category over the past year or two. We'll take a look where consumers are buying, what products, what flavors, what delivery formats, and what we can expect next."

Each portion of the session will include a Q&A, so you'll be able to ask your questions to the speakers.

If you'll still be in Vegas on Friday, November 4th. Come on down to Islander Ballroom B for an expert look into the field of sports nutrition. Be sure to register first!
