Nutraceutical International Group Adds New Antiox Ingredient

PARAMUS, NJ Nutraceutical International Group has unveiled its newest ingredient, a patented synergistic combination of the antioxidants alpha lipoic acid (ALA) and cysteine. Branded as a-Lacys Reset®, the new formulation addresses oxidative stress and the effects  free radicals can have on health. The company, an exclusive United States distributor for the formulation, noted the ingredient is designed to modulate cell redox (reduction and oxidation) balance by controlling and neutralizing free radicals related to intense training, aging and general health disorders, as well as  conditions such as weight management, high-performance sports and menopause.

According to the company, ALA activates AMP-kinase independently of cellular AMP concentration; this augments cytochrome oxidase activity and improves aerobic metabolism, therefore reducing free radical production. As for cysteine, the company explained the amino acid supports synthesis of GSH glutathione system, controlling mitochondrial production of ROS (reactive oxygen species).
