Researchers Compare CoQ10 Bioavailability

PITTSBURGH--Four novel preparations of coenzymeQ10 (CoQ10) were found to provide a more rapid delivery of CoQ10 to the bloodthan comparative typical formulations, according to researchers from DouglasLaboratories in Pittsburgh and their colleagues at Accutest ResearchLaboratories in India (Int J Clin Pharmacol Ther, 41, 1:42-8,2003). Their studies compared two novel water-miscible preparations, afast-melting tablet and an effervescent tablet with other commonly usedformulations (soft gelatin and powder-filled capsules). One of thewater-miscible preparations of CoQ10 (CoQsol) was provided by Los Angeles-basedSoft Gel Technologies, while the other (Q-Gel) was provided by Westbury,N.Y.-based Tishcon Corp.
