Indian Gooseberry Devoid of Vitamin C

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.—For decades, it has been assumed Indian gooseberry’s (Phyllanthus emblica) health benefits are due to its vitamin C content. A new study conducted by Natreon Inc. at its R&D center in Kolkata, India, examined the bioactive ingredients of Capros® Phyllanthus emblica extract and vitamin C.  The research found the nutrient has a high concentration of gallotannins, rather than vitamin C, which are responsible for the extraordinarily high antioxidant values of Capros. Gallotannins provide many health benefits and help the body's DNA repair system.
