Consumers are increasingly monitoring labels on food packaging and using this information to drive their purchase decisions. In fact, a majority of the American population indicates they read both the Nutritional Facts panel and the ingredient list prior to making a purchase. To that end, more consumers are looking for “less” on the label—they want foods that are minimally processed and have a short list of recognizable ingredients.
