Consumers have become savvier and look for products and specific ingredients that best meet their needs. They are looking for "less" on the label, food that are minimally processed and recognizable ingredients.

Consumers are increasingly monitoring labels on food packaging and using this information to drive their purchase decisions. In fact, a majority of the American population indicates they read both the Nutritional Facts panel and the ingredient list prior to making a purchase. To that end, more consumers are looking for “less” on the label—they want foods that are minimally processed and have a short list of recognizable ingredients.
