Demand grows for collagen as brands bring products to the market aimed at skin, hair and nail growth issues

Collagen is being added to an increasing number of functional products designed to help consumers strengthen various body agencies, with the bulk occurring in the beauty-from-within category. In this category collagen grew from zero percent to 9 percent market size in just three years, although growth for collagen is also strong in the joint health and sports nutrition categories. Because of the large dose of collagen that is needed for a product to be efficacious, it is most prominently found in the powder delivery format and is a supplement ingredient that is projected to shift into functional food in the coming years.
